Many women come to train with me having tried every diet and training regime to reach their dream-body goals. Yet, there is one thing they have been missing and that is a deep love and respect for the body that is right in front of them. Without being happy with what you have, it is often hard for desired change to occur… and from my perspective why waste time being unhappy! My role is often to get clients to “wake up” and see that they have been wasting precious time in the body hatred zone when they could be owning their beautiful self and caring for it accordingly.
By practicing self-love you are more likely to make better decisions related to your health and wellness.
Self care and self love go hand in hand. Each is a practice of kindness and compassion to your divine, unique and beautiful body. Your body is your gift and the choice is yours to nurture it just as you would .
The 'Soulshine Sessions' were founded in 2015 as an opportunity to bring like-minded women together to learn to shine from the inside-out. Just as we learn to flex our muscles in the gym, women need to be taught how to flex their self-love muscles too as this is something we are not taught (in schools).
So where do I start on this journey of self love?
The Self Love List is a great tool and exercise for helping connect you to you and one of the girls favourite exercises during Soulshine Sessions! Start by writing 10 things (or more) that light you up and get you excited about your life. Some on my list are; reading, taking photographs, walking at the beach, painting while playing my favourite music, having a candlelit bath with aromatherapy.
--->Write down your top 10 and aim to complete one thing each day! It really is as simple as that!
By taking this time out to celebrate you, you are communicating to your body that they are safe and loved. This will lower cortisol levels to re-activate your fat burning potential, lower sugar cravings and get you right back on the road to goal-kicking success.
